Q: What is the difference between an equaliser and repeater?
A: An equaliser just compensates for cable losses. The equaliser is positioned at the end of a long cable. Using proper cables our CP-269HM can compensate for over 40m of HDMI cable to provide a perfect 1080p resolution picture.
A repeater decodes the HDMI signal, provides error correction if required and re-encodes the signal back into HDMI format. A repeater is normally positioned in the middle between the source and display. The repeater can easily work with 12 meter of cable to the source of the HDMI signal and 12 meter of cable to the display device. The repeater is also perfect for sources that are not 100% HDMI compliant, to correct the signal to HDMI compliant formats.
